How To Help
Wheelchairs for Nigeria Needs Your Help
One wheelchair costs $150. Our shop is building about 85 wheelchairs every month, which means we need over $12,000 every month to keep up production. Won't you help transform the lives of some children that otherwise will spend their lives crawling on the ground? You can make an online tax-deductible donation by clicking the donate button to the right, or you may mail a check to the address below.
Monthly or Quarterly Gifts
Several of our supporters have set up regular monthly gifts through the Bill Pay service of their bank. That makes it automatic each month, and you don't have to try to remember to mail a check. Another has set up a monthly gift through PayPal online. Regular giving is most helpful. Just think how rewarding it would be to know that you have transformed a child's life every month!
Over 19,000 Corporations Match Gifts. Does Yours?
Your generous donation helps build wheelchairs, and your employer's matching gift program can help even more. A company match can double the impact of your gift at no extra cost to you. Since Wheelchairs for Nigeria is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, it should be eligible for all employee matching gift programs.
Birthday or Christmas Gifts
Does the person on your gift list already have everything? Why not give one or more wheelchairs in their name? A certificate and a page of pictures can be sent to acknowledge the gift. The person's name can even be stenciled on the back of the wheelchair(s). Instead of trying to find a gift they probably don't need and may not use, they will know that a child's life has (or children's lives have) been transformed in their name.
Gifts of Appreciated Stock
The market has been on a tear lately, and you may have stocks that have appreciated greatly in value. Instead of selling the stock and paying capital gains tax on the profit, you can transfer the shares to Wheelchairs for Nigeria and get a tax-deduction for the market value on the date of the transfer. This frees you from any capital gains tax liability. Your shares can be transferred to Wheelchairs for Nigeria's account with TDAmeritrade, which will then be sold and the proceeds used to build wheelchairs! IRA Charitable Rollovers
In 2013 the IRA Charitable Rollover provision of the Taxpayer Relief Act allowed individuals who were 70 1/2 or older to give tax-free gifts to charity from traditional and Roth IRA accounts. No charitable deduction could be taken by the owner, but distributions qualified for all or part of an IRA owner's Required Minimum Distribution. Watch the news to see whether this provision will be renewed for 2014, as it has been the last several years.
